Though it seems as if the film industry died (of Covid) back in the spring, there are a few enticing new horror releases that will be hitting screens soon. Here are the ones I’m looking forward to most.
The Wolf of Snow Hollow looks like it’ll be a lot of dark fun.
The Banishing looks spooky in that sophisticated British way.
I’m hopeful about the Woman in the Window, which has a stellar cast. And it’s hard not to be intrigued by this WTF trailer.
In other cinema-related reporting, a team of researchers in the UK just released a list of the scariest films of all time. To gather their data, evil scientists forced 50 viewers to watch 120 hours worth of horror while monitoring the viewers’ heart rates. The films that caused the most changes in BPM were the following:
- The Conjuring
- Paranormal Activity
Also of note: The criminally underrated Exorcist 3, which didn’t make the top 20, did cause one of the biggest spikes in heart rate for jump scares (nurse scene, I’m looking at you).
