McDonald’s in Japan just released two Halloween-inspired sandwiches: a beef burger with a goth black bun (dyed with ikasumi, a.k.a. squid ink)…
…and a ghastly white fried-chicken fillet with camembert cheese.
Good to see this corporate behemoth getting into the spirit and all, but is it a coincidence that its old rival Burger King just released the Kuro (Black) Burger a month ago in Japan? I think not.
So who should win the “Black Burger Battle”? I honestly wouldn’t eat either one, but I think BK should get bonus points for going the extra mile with that black cheese. It’s pretty hardcore.
Oh, and continuing the Asian trend for dark foods is the black hot dog, offered at Disney World’s Tokyo DisneySea.
Now, as for things I would eat, this Halloween McFlurry looks delicious enough for me to want to dig out my old “Teach English Abroad” application again…
