Perfume company Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab is so cool. Their website is a work of art, with amazing original images and scent descriptions that verge on poetry. They do not have a brick and mortar store, but they hold events once a month–on the full moon. And most importantly, they share our enthusiasm for Halloween.
Every year, BPAL releases (unisex) fragrances inspired by October 31. Past delights include Ghosts in Love, Samhain, and Day of Skulls.
This year, they debuted Theme in Yellow (“fresh pumpkins warmed by candlelight and aglow with Halloween joy”), Haunted Houses (“pale gossamer musks swirling in thick, dense otherworldly vapours through cracks in dry wood and old, old stones”), and September Midnight (“a myrrh-darkened amber chypre sweetened by newly-ripened black pomegranate”), among others.
From their website: “Our scents run the aesthetic gamut of magical, pagan, and mythological blends, Renaissance, Medieval, and Victorian formulas, and horror/ Gothic-themed scents.”
In short, when you buy a perfume from BPAL, you’re not just getting a scent; you’re getting an experience. A wonderful prospect for those of us who like to fully immerse ourselves in the season.
